What are your beliefs around money and wealth?
Are they positive and supporting, or are they negative and limiting?
Often these beliefs are set-up in childhood and come from things our parents, teachers or society in general have told us.
Maybe you heard statements like this when you were growing up and you have taken them on as your own beliefs?
‘Money isn’t for people like us’.
‘It’s greedy to want more.’
‘You have to work really hard to earn money.’
‘It’s rude to talk about money.’
‘Rich people are arrogant.’
Any of the above ringing any bells? I know they did for me when I first started doing my money belief work.
It may be that you’re going about your life with these kind of limiting beliefs, these old, unhelpful money stories, running unconsciously in your mind. (Or you could be running these kind of beliefs quite consciously and openly).
Whichever applies to you, if you believe that money is ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’ in some way, or to want more is ‘greedy’, then you’ll either consciously or subconsciously sabotage yourself when it comes to increasing your bank balance.
The good news is that you can shift any unhelpful money beliefs and create some supportive new ones.
There are different ways to do this, but today I’m going to share a releasing ceremony that works particularly well at full moon (I’m always up for a bit of woo woo and witchiness!)
The full moon is a great time for releasing old beliefs or unhelpful patterns. You can see it as an opportunity to clear some space for you to move forwards in the way you want to. Gorgeous!
Heads up: You can do this releasing ceremony at any time, but it’s particularly powerful at full moon. Click here to find out when the next full moon is.
Here are the simple steps you need to follow:
1) Give yourself some time to uncover any limiting money beliefs you currently have.
I recommend that you take a piece of paper and start writing them down.
You may already be aware of some of them, so get those down first. But don’t stop with the obvious ones! Write down as many as you can.
It can be helpful to complete the following statements in order to bring your beliefs to the surface:
Money is ……..
Rich people are …….
To make more money I’d have to ……….
If I was wealthy ………
My parents always used to say money was ……..
Get them all down on paper. This can be a great release in itself and bringing these beliefs into your awareness is the first step to changing them. Go you!
2) Burn, baby, burn!
This is the exciting bit. You get to burn your old money beliefs.
On the evening of the next full moon, take your piece of paper with all the unhelpful money beliefs on and burn it.
You can have a fire in the garden under the light of the moon, or if that’s not possible, feel free to do it inside (obligatory health and safety notice – be careful with this, eh?)
As you burn your old beliefs, say the following out loud:
‘I release my limiting beliefs under the light of this beautiful full moon. I am ready to let go of all that no longer serves me. I choose to create new beliefs and receive abundance into my life.’
Heads up – you might feel some resistance to doing this. Maybe you’ll want to skip this step altogether? I know it might seem a bit ‘out there’, but it works! Go on, have some fun and give it a go.
Notice how you feel after you have done this. Show yourself some love – have a candle-lit bath, eat some yummy food, dance. Celebrate the clearing away of old ‘stuff’!
3) Choose your new beliefs.
You might think that you don’t get to choose your beliefs, but I’m here to tell you that you absolutely do (and how empowering is that?)
It’s time for you to choose and install some supportive, expansive new money beliefs.
Again, give yourself some time to do this. Light a candle and take out your journal or a piece of blank paper.
Think about what beliefs are going to serve you?
What do you need to believe in order to receive more?
Write down your new, positive beliefs about money and wealth. Make them exciting and compelling.
A couple that I use are:
‘Money flows to me effortlessly and in abundance.’
‘Money is a beautiful tool for me to do good in the world.’
Choose words that resonate with you and make you feel good when you say them.
Don’t go crazy and write down hundreds of new beliefs – you’ll just feel overwhelmed.
To start with, choose two or three to focus on. Keep it simple.
When you have decided on your new beliefs, it’s time to embed them in your powerful subconscious mind. To help with this, you can:
- Say them out loud when you wake up and before you go to sleep.
- Write them out daily.
- Run your new beliefs through your head as often possible (in the shower, in the car, waiting in a queue).
- Create a screen-saver with them on.
- Put reminders on your phone that pop up with your new beliefs throughout the day.
Very soon, you’ll find that you’re thinking much more positively about money and wealth (which can only have a positive effect on your bank balance!)
There you have it, three simple (slightly witchy!) steps to let go and release any limiting beliefs around money.
