Journaling prompts to reflect on 2020

Oh 2020, how could we possibly describe you? Transformational, turbulent, unprecedented, liminal, heartbreaking, shape-shifting, a portal to something new, or simply a shitshow?

If you’re reading this, I’m guessing that all of those words have been in the mix this year. One thing’s for sure, you cannot NOT have been changed by 2020. You’ve most likely connected with new (or previously forgotten) aspects of yourself, adapted to change you could never have imagined and accessed new layers of the gift you’re here to share with the world.

So, as we come towards the end of this epic year of unbinding, it’s more vital than ever to take some time to integrate what you’ve experienced and learned in 2020.

What better way to do this than grabbing your favourite journal, lighting a candle and taking time to reflect on some unbound writing prompts?

I’ve curated a selection of questions designed to help you get into the nooks and crannies of your 2020 journey in the most potent way, harvesting the magic and releasing the ‘WTF?’

You can either choose to dive deep into one or two that you feel particularly drawn to, or spend some time with each of them. These prompts are primarily designed for your own personal use, but if you feel inspired to share your responses as a blog or social media post, go ahead! (If you do, I’d LOVE to see what’s coming through for you – tag me in @nicolahumber and use the hashtag #unboundwriting, so I can share your magic).

So, unbound one, get cosy, allow your mind and your pen to wander and be open to whatever wants to come through…

One thing I learned about myself in 2020 was…..

What challenging experience turned into a gift this year?

What felt like a breakthrough moment for me in 2020?

What were the lessons I learned from lockdown?

What inspired me in 2020?

Who inspired me in 2020?

What unexpected new direction this year did I take this year?

How I was more unbound than ever in 2020.

A forgotten part of me I uncovered this year.

What living through a global pandemic led me to realise.

How I felt activated by the BLM movement in 2020.

The clarity that’s come through the chaos.

What 2020 taught me about being Unbound

What I discovered in the darkest moments of 2020

If 2020 were a portal to something new, it would lead to this…
